I am a Certified Holistic Health Coach, a Nutrition Counselor, a Level 2 Craniosacral and NeuroKinetic Therapist an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (with thousands of hours), a Prenatal/Postnatal Registered Yoga Teacher and an Integrated Yoga Tune Up® Certified Senior Teacher Trainer. I'm a member in good standing of the International Association of Yoga Therapists, Yoga Alliance, the Fascia Research Society, the American Association of Drugless Practitioners and Transportation Alternatives. I have a Bachelor of Arts in French and Speech Communication from the University of Miami in conjunction with L'Université Paris-Sorbonne (IV).
I am in the business of helping people acquire the skills and support for long-term super-self-care.
My business is helping my friends, my family, my colleagues and my community to make better lifestyle choices so that we can look better, feel better and live longer in our bodies.
I used to be a Cheesacarbavarian (cheese-a-carb-a-varian) and this is my story:
My journey began in the spring of 1982. I had just finished reading Rachel Carson's The Silent Spring and I was half way through reading Upton Sinclair's The Jungle when Lent arrived and with it, the opportunity to change my life forever. I gave up meat that year and although I was just 12 years old, I was smart enough to realize a). how much better I felt without it and b). how much better the earth would be if we all ate less of it.
Fast forward a few decades. A dedicated yoga practice brought with it the undeniable awareness that my cheesacarbavarianism was becoming a problem for me. I felt bloated, swollen and constipated. I had achey joints, terrible PMS and wicked mood swings. My cravings were out of control. I experimented periodically with "elimination protocols" and "detoxification programs" all of which pointed to the ill effects of my ways.
My yoga studies began in the early 1990 and I really dug in when I found my place at Yoga Zone/Be Yoga/Yoga Works. I completed my first 500 hours of yoga training with Alan Finger, Jean Koerner and Beverly Murphy in 2001. [To you my esteemed "first teachers" I thank you for the path you've guided me towards!] I spent the following 10 years working with the fine people of Yoga Works.
After many years of use, misuse and abuse of my body) I discovered the work of Jill Miller and Yoga Tune Up®
and again my path is forever changed. I remain abundantly grateful to YTU for this great journey of kinesthetic critical thinking.
It's true that the path of yoga is paved with epiphanies and one of my own epiphanies was that during all my years of self-inquiry and dedicated research about plant-powered living, I had truly developed a uniquely textured and vast experiential body of knowledge regarding all things holistic (yoga, meditation, nutrition, herbology, homeopathy, ayurveda and exercise, just to name a few). This lifetime of experience coupled with a genuine motivation to help others find a more healthful way through life motivated me continue my education in the field of Holistic Health Coaching and Nutrition. I continue to study the human body with great aplomb! I shall continue to discover more secrets of the Healthy Human and I shall share them with you.
